We would love to welcome our good friends to their new men’s shop in Silver Lake. Mohawk Man is officially open. The official opening party is tomorrow night, Thursday, May 30th, from 6-9pm. Music by our mates, Lovefingers and Nitedog, and the beverages by Scribe Winery and Figueroa Mountain Brewery are sure to keep things festive. We’ll see you there.

Scouting Cloud Formations

The POP Studio team was out scouting locations for our upcoming Sonima shoot with the wonderfully talented Lauren Ross yesterday and the above location somewhere between our Culver City studio and Santa Barbara will do just fine. Our resident conceptual artist Cheryl Humphreys was testing out the rock formations, and we’re hoping mother nature will serve up the exact same sky when we actually shoot in two weeks…fingers crossed. And check out Miss Lauren Bradford Ross’s beautiful photos on her tumblr… We’ve been collaborating with her since we first opened the POP Studio and we love her candid captured moments of the beautiful life happening all around her.

This man is responsible for bringing a sense of style to the the street wear game. Hell, Shawn Stussy single handedly invented street wear whilst shaping some of the most progressive surf boards from the early 80′s to today. He’s been building a global culture of music, art and design infamously spanning New York, Los Angles, Tokyo, London & Paris as long as we’ve been paying attention!

All said, Shawn’s been a heavy influence on everything we do, and last week he sent us this visual shout out in front of our M.Nii installation at Ron Herman’s beautiful store in Sendagaya, Tokyo… Check out Shawn’s Joint, his S/DOUBLE collection, and see more of M.Nii on our website. Our very own Katsuo Design did this very limited run (edition of 40) poster for the HI Beams party at Beams Harajuku tomorrow night (depending on your global timezone). Jump on a jet, swing by Tokyo and spread the Aloha with M.Nii and friends! While you’re there, pick up a poster, groove to the Mattson 2 and throw a bunch of flying shakas with Matty BoBo and our good friends at BEAMS JAPAN!!!

These workers in the south east of India have been doing this 100% organic real indigo process for more than 1500 years, and Juan & Fernando from IOAN have developed a bond with them, living with them for months at a time to develop their “Clean Clothes Project” in a sustainable way with the craftsman that invented this hand done process… cleaner clothes against our skin, but also cleaner rivers, oceans, soil and air for everybody. If you are going to manufacture product overseas, this is the way to do it, working with the indigenous people and their own sustainable practices.
